Frequently asked questions of the Moorish Science Society
1. Is the Moorish Science Society a sovereignty movement?
No. The Moorish Science Society has no affiliation with any sovereignty movement or the ideals promoted by these types of people who are no more than scofflaws and anarchists. The sovereignty movement was founded by renegade European-Americans for Europeans and Moors have erroneously adopted the ideals of these European anti-government groups who at their core, hate their (Moors) very existence. Such propagation by various Moor groups is completely asinine and against the will of uplifting fallen humanity.
2. What is the Moorish Science Society exactly?
The Moorish Science Society is an offspring of the Moorish Divine National Movement and its religious organization founded in the year 1913. The Moorish Science Society derives its direct power from the Great Koran of Mohammed. Prophet Noble Drew Ali’s movement was incorporated in 1926 and mainly taught civics and in 1928 amended its corporate status to become the religious organization that we have today. Unfortunately, those Moors have become derelict of their duty in protecting the reputation of the organization founded by Prophet Noble Drew Ali, among other things, and so the M.S.S. was formed. We of the Moorish Science Society are friends and servants of Humanity whose intentions are to teach our people social, moral, and economic freedoms.
3. Do I have to buy nationality papers and get them notarized and sealed?
Emphatically no! All one has to do is become a member of the Moorish Science Society to take their place in the affairs of men simply by downloading the application from this website and mail it in and if approved, members will receive their membership cards and membership certificates. Nationality is free and anybody asking you to buy anything pertaining to nationality, is merely a con-artist trying to rip you off for your monies and preying on your ignorance. The Moorish Science Society is a dues paying organization. We do ask, as did the Prophet, for one month dues (10.00) up front upon membership. To be recognized as “faithful” and a member in good standing in this org, you must pay your dues every month which also entitles you to the protections and reciprocal benefits of this organization.
4. Can the M.S.S. represent a nation of people?
Yes. The M.S.S. will act as the administrative arm of the Clean and Pure Nation of Moors here in these United States of America. The M.S.S. seeks to become an advocate, national, and international representative for the Moors (so-called Negros, Blacks, and Coloreds) in the United States much like the P.L.O. (Palestinian Liberation Organization) is an organization and yet, it is recognized by the United Nations as its nation’s representative. Much like those who call themselves Jews were considered a nation even before the 1948 British Mandate that gave them land that they wrestled away from the Palestinians at that time.
5. What are some of the benefits that come with being a member of the M.S.S?
Unity first and foremost. Unity of mind and culture and moving one way as a nation within a nation, especially as a singular political unit. Also, the doctrine of the M.S.S. is a remedy for that which ails and plagues our peoples minds nationwide. The M.S.S. will employ professionals in several fields of business, leadership, self-help/development, self-defense and discipline, etc.
Schools: We can now build our own schools and educate our children on the level with the rest of the world as the education system in the inner cities have largely failed our people of Moorish descent.
These are just some of the great benefits that one can attain by being an active member of the M.S.S Of course, you must be a dues paying member to stay in good standing to receive any of the reciprocal benefits of the M.S.S. and this cannot be stressed enough. It takes finance to uplift a nation.
6. Do you have to be a member of the Moorish Science Society or even the Moorish Science Temple of America to be a Moorish American?
No. All people on this land who believe themselves to be either black, negro, colored, or African American, are Moors by birth, they are simply made to believe that they are something else by sheer ignorance of our own history and the social implications that comes attached to the former slave status of being either black, negro, colored, or African American. This does not mean that you will be recognized on such basis and this is why the Prophet Noble Drew Ali established the Moorish Divine and National Movement in America so that we can proclaim our nationality (American) and our national descent name (Moorish) and take our natural place as citizens of this land.
7. Are Moorish Americans supposed to have driver’s licenses?
Yes. It is the law of every state that citizens of that state have a drivers license. Any and all such ideas that someone does not need a license, are purely fallacious and without merit. It is simply another case of our people following in the footsteps of another people and this idea stems from Euro-American sovereign citizen movements. Moorish Americans are to follow the laws of the state in which they reside. Every state has a provision that mimics the 1st amendment separation of church and state doctrine and anything that goes against our religious preference, will be adjudicated on by the courts where we as citizens, seek redress and grievances.
8. Does my name automatically change when I proclaim my nationality? Do I have to file a name change document with the county clerks office?
No. Your name does not automatically change when you proclaim your nationality. You do however have the right to sign your El or Bey onto any contracts but this will not affect any I.D.’s, drivers license, passport, paychecks, etc. The best thing to do is to go to your local court and find out how to change your name legally. This way, all of your identification will reflect your El or Bey which will reflect the fact that you are a Moorish American Moslem and are demonstrating in this government as such. One point to note is that, when you do a legal name change, your birth certificate does not change nor does it need to.
9. Does my racial status automatically change from “Black” once I proclaim my nationality?
No. This is something that has to be done on a the judicial and legislative level. Remember, it is a sin to take on such a negative brand label as “black” as an identifier because this name, along with its cognates (negro, colored, etc), are slave brands only, and only people who feel that they are slaves or are the descendants of slaves promote this false label for our people. When Moorish Americans attain the political status that we once enjoyed under Prophet Noble Drew Ali in the 1920’s, then we can effectively change all records the proper way and that is via the legislative branch of government in these United States. This can happen overnight if you are ready.
10. Can I keep my children home on Friday’s if I choose to to observe our Holy Day?
Yes. This has long been recognized by the courts in this nation as the Moorish American Moslems are recognized as a religious organization. As you can see evinced by the newspaper articles below, the observance of our Holy Day “Sabbath” has been recognized in the early 1900’s.
